Frequently Asked Questions

Is it painful?

Let's be honest here - we are pulling out hair.  You will feel something.  Everybody's experience is different.  The sugar paste sticks to the hair rather than the skin meaning that it doesn't pull the skin when being removed.  The skin is stretched to aid removal and pressed afterwards to minimise any sting.

How long do the results last?

Again this varies from person to person.  It can depend on many factors.  Typically you should expect 10-14 days of smoothness and the hair grows back softer than if it had been shaved.  Sugaring is removing the root of the hair, meaning that a new hair has to grow to replace it.  With repeated removal, the hair weakens and returns finer each time and you may notice it taking longer to come back.

How often should I do it?

If you want to notice that finer hair coming through and reduce the discomfort of removing it, try to repeat the treatment every 5-6 weeks.  By doing this you are not allowing that hair to stay rooted for long.  Hair needs to be a minimum of 0.5cm to be effectively removed.

What body parts can be sugared?

Pretty much anywhere ther is hair.  That said, we cannot do scalps or beards.

Will I be red and sore afterwards?

It is unlikely, but everybody is different.  Sugar paste is much gentler on the skin.  You may experience some initial redness but this quickly subsides.  The important thing post-treatment is to follow the aftercare that the therapist gives you.  You can also find it on this website or ask for a leaflet to take home with you.

What should I do before my treatment?

Sugar paste will work best on clean, dry skin.  Exfoliation prior to treatment is great to remove any dead skin cells.  Avoid using body creams or oils on the day of the treatment as these may reduce the ability of the sugar to adhere.  Try to arrive on time to ensure all of your treatment can be done and not to delay others who may be waiting.
